With 25 May fast approaching, firms need to be looking now at how this new piece of legislation will affect them.
GDPR is the single biggest change to Europe’s Data Protection rules in the last 20 years and significantly raises the requirements in terms of compliance, with a maximum penalty for a breach being the higher of EUR 20,000,000 or 4% of the total worldwide annual turnover.
Fines will depend on the nature, gravity and duration of the infringement, but expect examples to be made of significant breaches.
